VACATIONS

Piranha Ecolodge.

Cuyabeno Lodge is located on the 1.5 million hectares in the Cuyabeno Reserve with 7 wooden single-family cabins with a thatched roof and 3 superior rooms, main cabin with kitchen, bar, hammock room, gazebo and restaurant.
This ecological lodge is located in the Laguna Grande in the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve that was established in 1979 and covers more than 650,000 hectares (1.5 million acres) of primary forest in the northeastern part of the Ecuadorian Amazon around the Cuyabeno river.

Accessible from the capital of the province of Nueva Loja, during these years the reserve has become an important tourist destination due to its amazing diversity of animals and birds, which includes twelve species of monkeys and more than 600 species of birds.

When the Cuyabeno Lodge began operating in 1988, the owners believed that travelers from the rainforest should be accommodated in conditions that were both in harmony with the surroundings and in tune with the needs of the modern visitor.

The lodge is certified by the Rainforest Alliance thanks to its sustainable tourism practices and the use of local materials in the construction of the facility. The lodge works closely with the local indigenous community Siona, whose members provide motorized canoe transportation for tours in Cuyabeno.
The rainy season is mid-March to August, when Amazon dolphins and manatees can be seen. The dry season runs from December to early March, sometimes the lake dries which means that the Cuyabeno Lodge is only accessible on foot.
