Tapir Lodge
Tapir Ecolodge, tours and first class trips, honeymoon vacations and events. Cataloged for its perfect and incompetent service makes this Lodge a favorite to spend your holidays in a very comfortable environment surrounded by the lush nature of the Cuyabeno Reserve!
Tapir Lodge is located in the extensive Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve, deep in the Amazon, with its 4 rooms built on 2 towers, each 35 feet high, located near nature and birds, a restaurant bar and a endless activities in the rainforest.
Tapir Lodge was built in 1996 with the collaboration of the local Siona community with the aim of offering comfortable accommodation while creating the least possible disruption to the ecosystem. Tapir Lodge shares benefits of its ecotourism activities with the local Siona community.
Tapir Lodge is located at the top of the Cuyabeno Reserve, which over the years has become an important tourist destination due to its incredible diversity of animals and birds, which is reflected in its 15 species of monkeys and thus more than 500 types bird's .
Location: The Tapir Lodge is located at the eastern tip of Ecuador, in an area consisting of 14 interconnected lagoons, of which only Laguna Grande (2.5 km / 1.5 miles in length) is accessible to visitors.
Accommodation: The cottage consists of three 35-foot tall "towers", with double, triple and quadruple rooms. All rooms have private bathrooms, with hot water and are equipped with water containers that provide our guests with purified water (brought from Lago Agrio), which is perfectly safe for drinking and brushing teeth. Some of the rooms are equipped with a hammock, balcony and have spectacular views of the jungle!
The "Piranha" tower has 4 rooms that can be used as single or double rooms.
Each room is located on a different floor so you have optimal privacy. From one of the balconies, you can admire beautiful bromeliads, orchids, birds and different endemic species of monkeys.
Facilities: The Tapir Lodge has a fully equipped kitchen to provide fresh and healthy Ecuadorian, international and local food. The ingredients are a mixture of local products (fruits and vegetables) from the jungle and others from the nearest city. Vegetarian and special diets can be accommodated with prior notification.
After a day full of activities in the forest, the hotel's “La Tarántula” bar offers very good non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks - such as freshly made tropical juices, cold beer, wines and cocktails! There, at the bar you can enjoy a refreshing drink and talk about your travel experiences with other travelers!
Activities at Tapir Lodge include bird watching, canoeing, alligator watching, sport fishing, jungle tours, night walks, cultural exchanges with indigenous communities, and camping trips.
4 NIGHTS / 5 DAYS
1.- Quito - Lago Agrio - Entrance of the Reserve. After a flight (30 minutes) or a bus trip (8 hours), one day before the tour or during the night we arrive at Lago Agrio, we meet at “La Casa de Mi Abuelo”, where you can order your breakfast At an extra cost of 4USD, here the guide will pick you up at 9:30 am, for people traveling by plane they pick you up at the airport. After picking up customers arriving by plane, we will travel by private bus to El Puente, the entrance to the Cuyabeno Reserve. From El Puente we take a canoe trip for 2 hours to 3 hours along the Cuyabeno River to the lodge, where we will have our lunch, followed by a nap before starting the activities. In the afternoon you will visit the Laguna Grande to swim and see the impressive sunset, we conclude the program of the day with an exciting night walk, followed by dinner and a talk given by your guide about the reservation and followed by the program to The next day. Break.
Meals included: Box lunch and dinner.
2.- Laguna Grande. After breakfast, we will do a trekking in the primary jungle to learn about medicinal plants, flora and fauna. After eating, you can relax in the river or enjoy a nap in one of our hammocks. Afternoon activities include swimming in the lagoon, and sighting of Caymans. We conclude the night with a magnificent sunset and delicious food.

3.- Cuyabeno River. This day we will walk in a different part of the jungle. This includes the opportunity to see the largest trees in the Amazon rainforest and the different ecosystems. We also visit an indigenous community, where our naturalist guide will explain the culture and traditions of the native peoples, here we will prepare traditional food after enjoying a delicious lunch. We conclude the day watching the beautiful sunset in the lagoon and you will have the opportunity to see more wildlife, before having dinner.

4.- Our 4-day program offers the opportunity to paddle in an ecological canoe to experience the life of the jungle.- The itinerary gives you more opportunities to observe more animals that have not been seen before, in addition to having more time to relax.

5- The Bridge - Lago Agrio - Quito. We will see the birds and animals in the tranquility of the early morning. After bird watching we will see the sunrise over the jungle canopies. After breakfast, tour the Cuyabeno River to El Puente, taking our last look at the animals of the jungle, flora and fauna. We will arrive at Lago Agrio at 2 in the afternoon, followed by your return flight or by bus.

WHAT TO BRING:
Lightweight short or long-sleeved shirts, insect repellent, 2 or more long pants, (not jeans pants), zip-lock bags to keep clothes dry, 2 or more shorts, binoculars (optional), flashlight with extra batteries , socks one pair per day, sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes and sandals, windbreaker or sweater, first aid kit, personal hygiene items (shampoo and biodegradable soap), cap or hat, swimsuit, underwear, glasses of sun, towel, camera, passport copy, small backpack and extra money.
